Recent Work
For years I wanted to paint Sucker Creek, a beaver-made wetland just over the ridge from a friend's off-grid cabin on the Pickerel River, near Georgian Bay. Unreachable by boat, its lush and tangled ecosystem was a ready-made collage. In 2018 the Parry Sound 33 wildfire came within 500 metres of the cabin. Three paintings in this series return to the burn zone over three subsequent summers, tracking the landscape as it regenerates. Their titles, Where are you?, Sleepy and amazed, and In the blueberries, come from Mary Oliver's poem "Picking Blueberries" (Austerlitz, New York, 1957) as do the other titles in this body of work. First shown in Once, in Summer at the Latcham Art Centre (2026), then at MKG127.
