On the Way

Walking the Camino Francés generated this body of work, including large canvases based on photographs of trees and undergrowth encountered along the Way, whose presence felt heightened by the experience. The walk also led to Paseo I–VI, a suite of six paintings based on black-and-white photographs of a logging road cutting through the forest. The road happened to be the same width as my Toronto gallery, which seemed reason enough to try bringing that section of the Camino home. In 2014, these works were exhibited in the solo exhibition Paseo at MKG127 in Toronto.
